BLOCK TOUR ROAD RALLY

Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Volume 16 is on-sale November 14, 2017,

featuring one block designed by me!

Thanks for joining the Block Tour Road Rally

November 13th through 17th, 2017.

Thanks for stopping by my site and the New Hampshire station of the Block Tour Road Rally!

What is the Block Tour Road Rally?

The Block Tour Road Rally is a blog hop, featuring designers from Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Volume 16.  If you’re looking for inspiration, this is the place!  The 100 Blocks edition is filled with applique blocks, foundation pieced blocks, mixed technique blocks, and general pieced blocks.

The designers’ blocks will be shown with additional fabric and color options.  During visits to the designers’ blogs, you will collect a particular piece of information (similar to a scavenger hunt).  On the last day of the tour, submit all the information you’ve collected for a chance to win one of the 5 grand prizes!

Throughout the week, free downloads and other prizes will be offered.  There will also be daily prize giveaways.  Maybe even a surprise giveaway from me! Be sure to register here and on Quiltmaker’s Quilty Pleasures blog with its new name “The Quilting Company (Quiltmaker).”

So, let me introduce myself. My name is Kathie Beltz, and I live in Greenfield, New Hampshire.  I am a Professional Quilter, Teacher, and Judge.

I am totally addicted to quilting, and enjoy associating with other quilters who are equally addicted.  I’ve been quilting since 1995, teaching since 2004, and judging quilts since 2007.

I have been fortunate that some of my quilts have won awards at shows across the country. As an award-winning quilter, I lecture, give demonstrations, and teach workshops at guilds, quilt shops, and quilt shows nationally.  I especially enjoy teaching beginners.

In 2013, I became a Certified Instructor for Studio 180 Design, Deb Tucker’s tool and technique company.  The Studio 180 Design certified instruction program provides me with the opportunity to continue Deb Tucker’s tradition of excellent instruction combined with fun.  Deb’s efficient techniques and her accurate tools make it easy to create beautiful quilts without a lot of fuss.

In 2017, I launched Kathie Beltz Quilt Designs, my own line of companion patterns for Studio 180 Design tools. These quilt patterns are for smaller projects that look complicated but are easier to make than you may think.

Please feel free to look around on my website for more information on Studio 180 Design patterns and tools, or for information on workshops, lectures, or judging. Just click on the tabs above. And don’t forget to “Like” me on Facebook!  www.Facebook.com/KathieBeltzQuilter

Now on to the fun stuff!

My block featured in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Volume 16:

I’m so happy to have my Skyway block featured in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks!  Migrating Geese is one of my favorite designs, and this block showcases them.  I used scraps of blue fabrics from my stash, because this pattern easily lends itself to scrap work.  I always used Aurifil thread for piecing, because it is the best!  Aurifil is lint free, strong, and comes in such luscious colors.

The directions for the block on Page 14 use foundation piecing.  If you are not a fan of foundation piecing, here’s a link to general piecing directions: Skyway Pattern.

Here’s one possible layout of Skyway in a large scale quilt:
