International Quilt Association

As you may have heard by now, the International Quilt Association has decided to disband.  IQA has preserved and advanced of the art of quilting internationally through many projects for over 40 years.  But now, Covid-19 has taken another victim.  You can read more about their decision here.

But don’t panic.  The International Quilt Association and Quilts, Inc. are two separate entities, although they work closely together.  As sponsor of the International Quilt Festival, Quilts, Inc. has agreed to continue with the quilt shows.

I have been a member of IQA for many years, and have been to the Houston show a few times, as an attendee and as a teacher.  Who doesn’t have the Houston Quilt Show on their bucket list?  I’ve also been fortunate enough to have a quilt juried into the show.  What an exciting experience to see my quilt hanging in Houston!

I was planning a small tribute, but Cheryl Sleboda has done a great job in tribute to IQA in her blog post.

Please support your local quilt organizations:  guilds, museums, associations.  We are the people who will get these groups through the rough spots.
