The pouches I made from the Row by Row license plates were so much fun, I decided to give it a try with some of my vintage linens. Some of the larger embroidered pieces and chenille pieces would make interesting pouches. I’m making the pouches different sizes to fit the pieces I have. The zippers will be cut to size to fit each bag.
This time I use the chenille for both the front and back of the pouch. I add fusible fleece to the wrong side of the chenille.
I cut the zipper to length and add tabs at each end.
Then I sew the right side of the zipper to the right side of the front and the back.
Next I sew the lining pieces to the wrong side of the zipper.
Then pin the outside front to the back, and pin the two lining pieces together. Sew all around, leaving a gap in the lining.
Turn the pouch right sides out. Press under the seam allowance at the gap in the lining, then stitch close to the edge to close.
Push the lining into the pouch, and give it a good press.
Woo hoo! More pouches made with vintage linens.
These pouches will be for sale at the Monadnock Quilter’s Guild quilt show October 12 and 13 in Peterborough, NH. Stop by the Guild’s Boutique and pick out one!
