Name Tag Challenge
My quilt guild had a challenge last year (or was it the year before?) for the members to create their own new name tags. One of our local quilt shops, Patches Quilt Loft and Embroidery, took the Monadnock Quilters Guild logo and created an embroidery design, which the members could purchase and customize with our names. I bought my embroidered logo last year, and it’s been sitting in my UFO pile.
Now that my schedule has slowed down for the holidays, I have some time to work on projects. So it’s time to make that name tag. (I know, I know, better late than never.) I decided to turn my name tag into a pouch after seeing other members’ samples.
Of course my name tag is purple! I dug out a complementary fabric from my stash for the lining, and cut two pieces for the lining, two pieces of the purple for the front and back.
I stitched the front to one lining piece, and the back to the other lining piece.
Then I stitched the front pieces to the back pieces right sides together, sewing all around the outside, and leaving an opening at the bottom of the lining. I turned the sewn pieces right sides out, and gave it a good press.
Tucking in the 1/4 inch seam at the opening, I stitched close to the edge to close the seam.
Then it is easy to tuck the lining into the pouch, and top stitch the pouch opening.
Luckily, I had some pretty ribbon that matched, so I attached the ribbon as a hanger.
Add a few baubles, and my new name tag is done.
So fun!
Stay tuned for more projects over the winter. 🙂
